Digital Elevation Model
Digital Elevation Model: insight into the topography of an area
Rendering an area as a 3D surface with its topographical features enables you to acquire trail-blazing geo-insights.
A Digital Elevation Model is a digital reproduction of the topography of a surface area. It is used in geospatial projects in a number of fields: engineering, spatial planning, telecoms, energy, academic research, etc. There are two types of DEM:
- The Digital Surface Model (DSM) maps all features of the surface area, such as vegetation or built infrastructure.
- The Digital Terrain Model (DTM) reproduces the bare surface, i.e. after all DSM features have been removed.
Besides Digital Elevation Models, GIM can also offer you 3D models on which buildings are visible, as well as much else. We will be happy to discuss with you how we can best meet the geospatial needs of your project.
