In order to accelerate the growth of our flagship product, Belmap, we are looking for a Geodata Product Developer.
Belmap is a digital product that encompasses all Belgian addresses and buildings with a multitude of linked data properties and gives an elaborate description of characteristics and activities at any given location. Through Belmap, retailers can for instance understand where their customers live, work and shop. Utility network operators can optimize their network planning, design, roll-out and operations and distribution companies can optimize their address management and logistics. Belmap thus enables better decision-making based on clear location insights. The objective is to evolve the product into a complete and highly detailed digital twin of the build-up territory.

As Product Developer you join the team that develops and maintains GIM’s core product Belmap, where you will contribute to the enrichment of the product. You can count on a solid technical knowledge (SQL, python, java, Databases & -warehousing, API and webservices) to develop additional modules and monitor continuous improvement and reliability of the product. Having an excellent eye for quality, you write and document reliable code but can also contribute to the automatic processes of quality checks to reduce potential errors.
In your role as database administrator, you monitor and execute the daily operations around our Belmap databases and work in close collaboration with the database architect to suggest and implement database improvements. Thanks to your effort, we can add new Belmap product features and optimise the existing ones by increasing performance.
You will work in close collaboration with the product manager of Belmap, and therefore have the right input to keep an eye on the committed road map. This will give you the opportunity to take on a project management approach and assure the planning, timing and scope of the new road map items the team commits to. Prioritizing and the ability to manage a small project team, are crucial skills you will need to be successful in this role.
